Phytoremediation

Phytoremediation, Screen Print
Phytoremediation
This silkscreen monoprint contains layerd images that reference phytoremediation. Phytoremediation is a process which plants are able to breakdown toxic contamination in polluted soil. Several trees and plants including the mustard plant have the natural ability to help remediate contaminated soil and return it to a usable state. The image on the left in this print is of a Newmark ground water contamination Superfund site in San Bernardino. The site has several visible Airstripper towers to treat wastewater. These towers are the industrial equivalent to the mustard plant. The yellow background image on the right in the print is of a field of mustard plants overlayed in black with a diagram of a waste water treatment plant and final collaged layer of a mustard plant illustration.
